Evelyn Liang
Evelyn Liang is 19 years old and holds an LRCM in piano performance with First Class Honours. She is currently in her third year Bachelor’s Degree at the Glenn Gould School with full scholarship, studying with Dean James Anagnoson and pianist Li Wang. Evelyn started playing piano at age of four. Upon moving to Canada in 2013, she began lessons with Cheryl Graham. In 2016 Evelyn completed RCM Grade 10 piano, receiving First Class Honours with Distinction with 94%.
Evelyn had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, New York at the age of 13. Over the years she has been a consistent prize winner in the OMFA and ORMTA Provincial Finals from RCM level nine through ARCT. Further piano studies were taken with Dr. Michael Esch. Evelyn had the opportunity to participate at the renowned Orford Music Academy program in the class of John Perry. She has performed in master classes for several important artists including Michael Berkovsky, Anya Alexeyev and Jamie Parker.
Evelyn has enjoyed considerable success in both the competition and recital formats. She has performed several recitals under the auspices of the Barrie Concert Association, as well as for various ORMTA events, galas and functions. Evelyn enjoys composition and is gifted with skills of improvisation at the keyboard. She is passionate about music and is continuing further studies at the Glenn Gould School.
Henry From
Henry From is a pianist and composer currently studying with John O’Conor at the Glenn Gould School as a recipient of the Bresler Scholarship. He previously studied with Amanda Chan and Edward Top at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Henry was named by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation among its Top 30 Musicians under 30 in 2019, after winning first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Manulife Competition. Other honours include Grand Prize at the Orford Music Award in 2022 and Tabor Award at the Verbier Festival in 2021. Recent performance highlights include soloist in Brahms Piano Concerto no. 1 with the Seattle Symphony and premieres of his compositions by the Vancouver and Winnipeg symphonies, as well as upcoming concerto appearances with Les Violons du Roy and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra.
Elijah Orlenko
Elijah Orlenko, age 18, was born in Vancouver, BC. He is currently a senior piano student at The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists and is studying with Michael Berkovsky. Elijah won the Second Prize and the Best Bach Award at the Los Angeles Young Musician International Piano Competition in 2016. In 2018, he made his debut at Koerner Hall with the ACO under the baton of Maestro IvarsTaurins. That year he also became a second place winner at the National Music Festival in Sackville, NB. In 2019, Elijah participated in the Peregrinos Musicales Festival where he played with the Philharmonic of Galicia under the baton of Maestro MaximinoZumalave in the Auditorium of Galicia. Elijah played with Orchestra Toronto under the baton of Maestro Michael Newnham and with the Etobicoke Philharmonic under the baton of Matthew Jones. Elijah has won prizes in the Kiwanis Music Festival, the CCC Festival, the International Music Festival and Competition and he received the Founder’s Award in the North York Music Festival. He has taken classes from Paul Schenly, Pavel Nersessian, Andre Laplante, Ilona Timchenko, Dianne Werner, Li Wang, James Anagnoson, Edward Wolanin, Sergey Schepkin, Dmitry Rachmanov, Paul Komen, Igor Roma, John Perry, David Louis, Anton Nel and Robert Mcdonald. In Vancouver, Elijah studied with Ian Parker.
In his free time, Elijah enjoys riding his bike and running outside.
