The Barrie Concerts began in November 1946 and Georgian Music in the 1990-91 season. Both continue to contribute greatly to the quality of life for residents of Barrie and the region around it. Both series present outstanding programmes of music performed by wonderful musicians from across Canada and around the world. Enjoy!

Ensemble Salzburg

The Ensemble Salzburg is a unique ensemble combining both string and wind instruments with piano. Their repertoire consists of symphonies by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven - all arranged for flute, violin, cello and piano by Mozarts student Johann Nepomuk Hummel. These arrangements were used to introduce and promote the symphonies to music lovers around Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Robert Kortgaard was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. He completed his bachelor and master's degrees at the Juilliard School in New York City. As a recipient of arts awards from the Canada Council, he continued his musical studies in Italy and England. Mr. Kortgaard has performed as a soloist with major Canadian orchestras and has given recitals throughout Canada and the United States, as well as in England, Finland, Portugal, Italy, Indonesia, the Czech Republic and China...
